The HYFA Embryo Auction

At the 2012 Mile High Night National Hereford Sale in Denver the Surprise Lot to benefit HYFA was purchased by Mr. David McMahon, Belle Point Ranch, Lavaca Arkansas for $20,000. Mr. McMahon has graciously donated these 20 embryos back to HYFA. We truly appreciate and thank Mr. McMahon for his generosity and support of HYFA.

In order to disperse of these 20 embryos HYFA has chosen to sell them in six lots on BuyHereford.com on Thursday, March 8, 2012.

We also wish to thank the following donors for these embryos that made this special lot a reality for HYFA -- Sunset Ridge Herefords, Billy Martin, Cumming, GA; Mill Creek Ranch, Dave Breiner, Alma, KS and Pied Piper Farms, Bob Moore, Hamlin, TX; Jensen Bros., Kevin and Sheila Jensen, Courtland, Kansas; Topp Herefords, Ryan and Prairie Topp, Grace City, ND and Fawcett's Elm Creek Ranch, Keith and Cheryl Fawcett, Ree Heights, SD.

We have been striving to produce performance oriented, balanced trait cattle for over 35 years. This is kind of a no frills format. Footnotes are kept to a minimum with only percentile ranks and breeding information being noted. We videoed the cattle as you would see them in the pasture without being trimmed. We will let the pedigrees, EPD's and videos speak for themselves. There are many exceptional heifers represented and they all should make quality replacement females. Every female in the group has been ultrasounded safe to calve in January to Rib Eye, Trend, R294, or Revolution. Huth Polled Herefords Bull Selection Day - Saturday, May 22, 2010 12:30 PM at the farm. Offering 27 Hereford Bulls, our top bull calves from the 2009 calf crop.

Welcome! We welcome you to Huth Polled Herefords. This is our 2nd Bull Selection Day and again we are offering a set of bulls who are ready to go to work for you.

We have been performance testing since 1973. We started by collecting birth, weaning and yearling weights and have been expanding our data collection to include scrotal and pelvic size, ultrasound data for measuring back fat, rib eye area, marbling, and udder scoring and weighing of cows to determine cow performance.

This is the second year we developed our bulls at Hays Beef Development Center in Iowa to collect feed conversion data and residual feed intake (RFI) information. Our selection criteria is consistent — emphasizing problem free cattle with low birth weight, moderate growth, adequate milk production, and acceptable carcass characteristics.
